As a society, it appears that we have hit rock bottom in rounded education. Yes, there are all of those television quiz games, but that is an activity where lounge lizards lounge, watch the very few contestants in a game, not even a public view of a few in intelligent conversation; as once happened for television (and where digitalised videos are available for a few).
I was asked by the Quora machine, to answer this question: “What physical characteristics do people with Aboriginal DNA typically have if they were born and raised in Australia, but not in an area where native people live?”
To the uneducated (meaning to undo education), the statement might appear reasonable. And maybe it is in some illogical fashion, but the statement is unintelligible, meaning that the statement has undone the understanding of the ideas when the subject matter is under review.
So, consider the question, there are quite a few errors of thought that is contained in its awkward expression, and possibly its intent.
First, the reference to “physical characteristics”, in the context of the whole question clearly infers thought in hard materialism at the extreme end of the spectrum.
The statement clearly infers an extreme political position of hard materialists. More is said further on.
Secondly, the reference to DNA in the context of the question, demonstrates a very poor knowledge of the science. There is no “typical” DNA. That is not how the science works. Common sequences are not “typical” in the way the question is framed, and the framing has racist inferences.
Finally, the reference to “area” is oddly out of place, even for a hard materialist. The inference here is that local areas, and, indeed, over short period of time, produces DNA evolution. The nonsense idea is the short period of modernity in specific geographic areas modifies the material of a person’s body: hard materialism.
The other parts of the spectrum in their philosophical moment provide better answers. In recent years the pattern of anti-intellectualism has accelerated. It is a general pattern, any the academic dismissal-ers need to understand that the exceptions are proving the rules of this pattern. This is our state of affairs, but there are educative solutions. Including the outlook of a soft materialist.
First, there is understand worldview in more nuanced form:
Secondly, identify the spiral pattern of the historiography in the thinking of a rounded education model:
Thinking Historiographically.
Thirdly, identify the relationships of the academic theories which details the historiographic and educative model.
Fourthly, in Dr Neville Buch‘s work that process has challenge the concept and practice of orthodoxy:
Typical Pathways Of Belief.
Fifthly, in the social relationships of the detail we can see a hierarchy of learning:
Buch’s Pyramid Of Social Personal Development.
At a deep level of learning, we can see a set of more complex relations between consciousness and the material world:
This brings us back to understanding the spectrum:
This requires understand a few terms in the mind-brain relationship correctly:
Finally (9th step), what all of this means is that there is agency, and each person has a choice:
