Mapping History

Maps have been part of history research and writing since the revolution in cartography during the 15th century European renaissance through printing; however, mapping has been an important handmaiden to historical imagination going back to the ancient worlds and across civilisations.
The Mapping Brisbane History (MBH) is a unique historical geography project unseen in any other Australian capital city. It is a long-term work to map as many historical sites as possible in the Brisbane area. The local study program has been completed with 39 southside study areas, and 25 northside areas, a total across Brisbane of 64 study areas, and 1,000 plus historical markers and panels. Further work is underway, with Dr Buch as the MBH Project Manager.
