I lift my eyes off the page, siting in the shade of the bakery.
Cast my eyes to the blue sky.
The horizon of my childhood and youth.
A single palm tree top appeared high above the shop lined roof.
I feeling the soft cool of the mid-winter air,
the pleasure of Brisbane suburban sub-tropic.
I am alive, not as my lover is, but as she was.
Coffee, a garnished sandwich, a book, a shaded cafe table,
and the senses, all the senses,
This is my life at its full,
though never complete until
the history is told.
