Wine to pass through the event. Coffee to sober up.

Poetry of a Lonely in the Compassionate Crowd
On the evening of the 12 November 2021, 8.30.

Fish out of water.
Showcase of communications,
In art and films.
Always the question –
What am I doing here?

I get an email invitation
Out of the blue.
So, I came.
I did not conquer.
I looked.
As a Griffith University
Community Partner (only).

Students doing good,
As they would have been doing,
Since the likes of liberal revolutionaries,
German territories,
Now two centuries ago, but
Where am I in this?

This is the thought I have had,
Two hours of the event,
Level 7 of the
Webb Building, South Bank.
Roy Webb
The Man I worked for
The start of a
Long Journey.

Now, I am in Max Brenner,
Trying to sober up.
I want to drive home.
Before…
Two of the Sauvignon blanc
Several fine foods treats.
The event waitress said,
“You’re having your dinner.”

And now here is dessert and coffee.
A mango and passion thing-ee.

I must stop writing in this booth.
I must sober up, but,
More importantly,
I need to take in
The world around me.

Ruth, where are you?

Not a single person in South Bank
Wearing a mask.

For all you ‘girls’ out there, find comfort in the poetry. In the end, we are all alone.
