The Craziness of UQ Political Decision Makers

Dear friends,

Given my publications — both academic works and blog articles & essays over recent years, it is clear in the craziness of The UQ Senate in even thinking about removing postgraduate museum studies.

The University of Queensland is proposing to phase out Museum Studies programs from 2025. Over 3,000 students, academics and staff have now signed Museums and Galleries Queensland’s petition to save the program, which is the last course in this specialised field in Queensland. Tomorrow the University of Queensland Senate is meeting to make a final decision over the future of the program, will you sign?

On 10 May 2024, The University of Queensland wrote to students, industry representatives and alumni advising that it is proposing to phase out the Master of Museum Studies and Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies from 2025. This is exactly 20 years after the course was established.
