Dear Neil and Michael,
In line with the problem of the false economy and the failures of humanities and social science education in Australia. Here is the Free Thinker Institute, New York, meeting today.

Garrett Lang introduced the Freethinker Institute and its focus on personal growth through stoicism, highlighting the regular free events and monthly stoic gatherings led by Joe Bullock. Joe provided an overview of stoicism, emphasizing its core principles of living in harmony with nature and cultivating virtues such as justice, courage, and wisdom. He detailed the three disciplines of stoicism—desire, action, and assent—focusing on the discipline of assent, which involves critically examining initial impressions and judgments. Joe discussed the influence of preconceived notions on reactions, advocating for the challenge of biases to promote rational decision-making.

He illustrated how reframing negative situations can lead to healthier responses and emphasized the importance of pausing to assess reactions. Garrett also mentioned his presentation on libertarian free will, inviting further exploration of the topic. Joe concluded by encouraging questions and dialogue among participants.
