The 17 December is a very sad day, with happy memories 27 years ago. 2024 minus 27 years = 1997. I was never good at maths; had to use a calculator. The machines now give us the answers to which we must respond.
1997. I started my first ‘permanent’ career job, as a researcher where the institutions first thought, instead of exploiting me, I would be worthy to be paid as a professional. I gave a decade of worthy service.
I am sorry Ruth. I did not mean to lie in saying, “It would be okay.” I did not believe that institutions would be so full of “sc..b..s” who do nothing bad except conform to a corrupt economic system.
It is not okay to let one person die in poverty. We are all, each responsible, for the poverty that another person experienced. It is called a “system(s)”. And it is real.
