Happy Birthday. From Those Who Understand Accountability! The Oldest Daughter’s Gift.

Today, is my birthday, my 63rd birthday. The third and final of a three post series.

My oldest daughter gave the following birthday present:

some money and six cup cakes delivered to the door

Our family has been very good at understanding cognition histories and social psychology. Inside Out 2 features Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter’s “five to 27 emotions” ideas from the first film that was pitched during its production to utilize ‘truthful’ worldbuilding. Like its predecessor, the production team consulted psychologists to accurately portray how teenagers’ emotions change during puberty, while also enlisting a group of teenagers to accurately portray modern teenage life. These are lessons that our adult political decision-makers urgently need to understand.

My daughters understand, and their birthday presents reflect that they know I need more joy in my life. Joy, aiming to fill the Sense of Self with only positive memories, creates a mechanism that launches negative memories to the back of the main character’s thinking; of Riley’s mind. Whereas anger has been my main work passion. Anger also can be a positive emotion, as the doorway to fairness.

My eldest daughter has a good sense of fairness, and so does her sister. Their mother, Ruth, a development and social worker, taught them these intelligent values and principles. And I hope I did too.

This is why I have been telling the profession for years, that the objectification, as in Ayn Rand’s objectivism is plain stupidity in our times.  Good cognition is feeling for ourselves and others, along with the best understanding of how all ideas fit together or do not fit together.
