I would be interested to know if anyone is aware of a study of cultural-social psychology from the claim of Erich Fromm in 1960.
“…and yet nobody has any true aim. We are alienated with ourselves, we don’t feel much, and certainly we don’t feel intensely, all we are after is not to be different, and we are frighten to death to be just two feet away from the earth [? not clear], and yet we are deceiving ourselves about this reality by talking, all the time, in terms of our traditional heritage, of the Judeo-Christian tradition of humanistic philosophy, of reality, and what not.”
