Abstract
This essay provides a rigorous critical response to Bevin Luchel’s (2026) paper, “The Illusions of the Radical Centre: A Socialist Critique of Neville Buch’s MICE Framework and Technocratic Prophecy”[1]. It argues that Luchel’s critique suffers from a profound dogmatic reductionism, collapsing Dr Neville Buch’s Management Institute for Contributory Economy (MICE) framework into an inaccurate caricature of “Third Way neoliberalism” and “bourgeois utopianism”[2]. By systematically examining Luchel’s arguments, this essay demonstrates that Luchel fails to understand the institutional purpose of MICE documents, constructs a flawed polemic against the “Radical Centre”, and remains locked in rigid nineteenth-century ideological dogmatism[2]. Ultimately, this essay highlights why moving beyond Luchel’s ideological intransigence is vital for modern public governance, institutional health, and authentic human flourishing (eudaimonia )[7].
