My childhood was innocent, until I became an angry adolescent on social justice issues, but still with the shyness of a conventional thinker. My university’s day was radicalisation, but no surprise there, but still holding in a liberalism, conventional, thinker’s outlook. When I worked for the Vice-Chancellors I kept my head down, but I learned a new liberalism, a 21st century social liberalism. This is a liberalism which argues, and practices, that those ‘in the know’ (truely) have to be open with the public, whether they like the messaging or not. Liberty is only truly possible when a person opens their thinking to the uncomfortable, tragedy, and what they may not wish to hear.
