ONE MICE SYLLABI:
THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS OF QUEENSLAND EDUCATION
Dr Neville Buch ABN: 86703686642
Abstract:
This proposal (preliminary in the first development of the idea) argues that the Management Institute for Contributory Economy (MICE) philosophy provides the essential theoretical and practical framework to establish “One Syllabi” for Queensland’s educational system. Currently, Queensland education is hampered by a “techné mindset” that prioritizes fragmented, quantifiable data and immediate vocational utility over a comprehensive understanding of social reality. By contrast, the MICE approach utilizes spiral historiography and the Dynamic of Cognition (DoC) to synthesize the Five Intentions—Self, Mind, Reason, Utility, and Love—into a single, unified document. This “One Syllabi” would provide a holistic view of the student’s academic journey, interrelating disparate subjects through an ethically grounded and historically conscious lens. Implementing this model is a necessary mandate to transition the state from specialized ignorance and “historical forgetfulness” toward true human flourishing and democratic agency.
