Dear friends,

I have a message that must be acknowledged. And better that it is engaged in. In essence, Dr. Buch’s practice offers a sophisticated form of consultancy, research, and education that links high-level global philosophical and cognitive theory directly to the local social, economic, and organizational imperatives. He explicitly states that his professional service should be paid for, instructing readers to “Employ him or contract him”.

The message can now be summarised in four steps:

  1. Comprehensibility: The linguistic expression must be understandable.
  2. Truth: The propositional content must be true.
  3. Truthfulness: The speaker must express intentions truthfully, allowing the hearer to trust them.
  4. Rightness (or Appropriateness): The utterance must be right (or correct) with respect to a recognised normative background.

Genuine Character, Not Entertainment

Abstract: Entertainment is a drug for all of us. We are hooked. We can only break the habit occasionally as entertainment does provide the downtime of comfort. Breaking the habit involves periods of deep learning where we are willing to face our pain. The problem of entertainment, viewed through the lens of critical philosophy, is not a matter of mere leisure, but a core mechanism of sociological propaganda and the technicisation of cognition. Bernard Stiegler diagnoses the issue as a libidinal dis-economy driven by the accelerating rhythm of modern technics that demands constant innovation and consumption, leading to a divorce between culture and technics. Jacques Ellul details how mass media entertainment functions as pre-propaganda, creating an emotional climate that renders individuals susceptible to control by supplying artificial satisfactions for real needs. This system systematically erodes critical and personal judgment and fosters Historical Forgetfulness, ultimately producing a discontinuous personality reliant on external stimuli for meaning, thereby constituting an immense regression of human agency and self-understanding. The solution requires a philosophical and ethical intervention—recasting thought as caring (panser)—to reclaim time, reflection, and human authorship.

The conclusion is that understanding is achieved when the individual, driven by passion, guided by kindness, and structurally supported by integrity, accepts the fearsome responsibility of choosing one’s own path and values. This necessitates moving beyond the dogma of old metaphysical thinking and replacing the dead, unimaginative, and stupid thought of entertainment culture with the adult and reflective discourse necessary for human flourishing.

If you have the capacity to make financial investments in MICE, and believe it is worthwhile, here are some suggestions:

  1. Organise a meeting with MICE to make an offer; or
  2. Donate to Dr Neville Buch, on behalf of MICE; the Funds will be used to literary-literally feed the researcher and pay MICE bills.

Unfortunately, the message has been cemented in the series of Academia.edu essays, and there is just now a decline in the responses. Internationally, THE MESSAGE is now understood:

For my friends I have attached THE MESSAGE:

Four steps:

However, Australians are left out in the cold because of the “historical delay”. Financial investment in MICE would change that. With funds MICE cannot only have an online presence but also publish physical pamphlets, books and book chapters.

I, personally, as representing MICE,  am now engaged with over 12,200 13,700 persons around the world. MICE work has been read by 17,899 18,936 persons; there are 13,782 (at least) persons who have come to our Academia.edu pages. My profile has been seen by 2,512 2,613persons. Of the 8,050 8,060 readers, 3,585 3,595 are highly engaged, 315 317 are in my network, and there are 995 996 across my fields of learning (a few hours ago; a moving feast). I am getting the average daily attention of 1,500 (at least) persons.
