Propaganda, Numbers, and Marketing are related concepts tied together by lying.

Scholars at “History at UQ” are being sidelined in this propaganda campaign. There was a time that historians at “history at uq” would never undignified themselves with a reference to Time Magazine as a major point of evidence. Especially when there are better ranking sources as evidence, if rankings have the better answers.
In the Times Higher Education Supplement (THE) Impact Rankings 2025 results, Western Sydney University (WSU) is number one for the fourth consecutive year, while Griffith University and the University of Tasmania are tied in fourth place. The University of Queensland was not to be seen at the top. However, rankings can be somewhat obnoxious. The better source is to ask the historians of higher education, and I am one of them, acknowledged as a Ph.D. graduate from the University of Queensland for a thesis dealing with the history of blind attitudes in Queensland.
What I have recently said is that The University of Queensland is not facing up to what is missing in its humanities and social science curriculum.
In the 2026–2025 Times Higher Education Subject Rankings for Arts and Humanities, the University of Queensland and Griffith University are doing poorly in two categories: Research Environment and Teaching. In 2025 the University of Queensland’s ranking research environment was 32.0%, it has only now reached 35.2%. In 2025 Griffith University’s ranking research environment was 18.0%, it has only now just reached 21.2%. In 2025 the University of Queensland’s ranking for teaching was 32.0%, it has only has now reached 40.8%. In 2025 Griffith University’s ranking for teaching was 22.4%, it has only now just reached 23.7%. The marginal improvement might be due to the Vice-Chancellors recognition of some Dr Buch’s comments without paying him for his consultancy. Still, the University of Queensland and Griffith University are way behind globally.
I have continually challenged the Vice-Chancellor, Deborah Terry, in the last few years, on this truth.
