Abstract
Legitimate advocates for social change often face institutions that maintain the status quo through “institutional bullshit” and sophisticated propaganda designed to enforce orthopraxy (uniform action) rather than genuine belief. Drawing on the analysis of Joshua Kyle T. Rovero, change is not merely a political event but a universal mode of disclosure that redefines a civilization-society’s relationship with its environment. This essay examines how advocates in Queensland have historically challenged institutional propaganda across four eras, utilizing Dr. Neville Buch’s Dynamic of Cognition (DoC) and Spiral Historiography. A notable meta-example of this challenge is found in the decade 2006–2025 subject rankings for Arts and Humanities, where the University of Queensland and Griffith University have shown only marginal improvements in research and teaching—potentially reflecting the Vice-Chancellors’ limited recognition of Dr. Buch’s unpaid consultancy against failed policies. To overcome such stagnation, advocates must practice “crap detecting” to filter out widely-believed falsehoods and move toward a Contributory Economy rooted in thinking as caring (panser).
