Politicisation of Social Cohesion

Abstract
The politicisation of social cohesion represents a critical juncture in the contemporary “Culture-History War,” where the ideal of a unified society is transformed from a goal of communicative action into an instrument of strategic manipulation. This essay critiques the discourse exemplified by Nick Cater, arguing that such perspectives often rely on the “Principle Basic Fallacy”—the artificial separation of the ‘natural’ from the ‘technical’—to manufacture a vision of national unity that is fundamentally exclusionary. By utilizing sociological propaganda and exploiting “Historical Forgetfulness,” these narratives replace genuine intersubjective mutuality with orthopraxy (uniform behaviour) steered by external stimuli. Drawing on the insights of Jürgen Habermas, Bernard Williams, and Bernard Stiegler, this critique positions the “Cater-esque” model as part of an “immense regression” into “artificial stupidity,” where the complexities of human authorship are sacrificed to the “coldness of calculation”. The essay proposes that true social cohesion is achieved not through forced ideological purity, but through a reflective ascent grounded in panser (thinking as caring) and rational-critical communication.
