Abstract

“A Matrix of Sociology,” developed by Dr. Neville Buch, is a comprehensive structural framework that maps the intersection of institutional focuses, historical catalysts (Prophets), Western archetypes, and social action types. By synthesizing and modifying classical theories from Max Weber, C. Wright Mills, and Patricia Hill Collins, the matrix organizes social reality into four distinct “orders” of integration: the High System, the Utopian Order, the Mass System, and the Basic Individual-Collective. This synoptic vision serves as a diagnostic tool for “crap detecting,” allowing individuals to unmask “institutional bullshit” and manufactured myths. Ultimately, the matrix provides a pathway to “uncoil” the vicious circles of Historical Forgetfulness, restoring human authorship over the shared lifeworld and fostering Aristotelian flourishing.
