Abstract

A temporal shift is a change or alteration in the timing or sequence of events. It is the space-time continuum. In Science Fiction, it is film or television, perceptively moving, either forward or backward, within the space-time continuum, to produce history. The temporal order presents good, indifferent, and bad opportunity for cognition, both clarifying and/or twisting the thinking of a person. The concept of the temporal shift can distort understanding if the person does not have sufficient understanding of history. Particular attention is given to George Gonzales’ Star Trek and Star Wars: The Enlightenment Versus the Anti-Enlightenment (2022). There is a historiographical perception of Star Trek films and television series, allowing an understanding for the shaping of public perception, understood by philosophers, historians and sociologists.
