Abstract:
Local and Global Social Harm is examined in this essay as a dual manifestation of the “immense regression” and the “Principle Basic Fallacy.” At the global scale, social harm is driven by the technicisation of cognition and the expansion of computational capitalism, which replaces communicative action (aimed at understanding) with purposive-rational action (aimed at control). This creates a state of “absolute non-knowledge” where systemic imperatives override human authorship. Locally, this harm manifests as “Historical Forgetfulness,” where “nasty politicians” exploit binary fallacies (e.g., ‘native’ vs. ‘foreign’) to maintain power through sociological propaganda. The erosion of “thick ethical concepts” and the dismissal of moral luck further fragment the individual, leading to a discontinuous personality reliant on external stimuli. The resolution proposed is a reflective ascent through “panser” (thinking as caring) and spiral historiography, aiming to restore practical confidence by integrating local historical bearings with global interdisciplinary understanding.
