Defending Philosophical Compatibility Against Neo-Conservative Thought
Abstract
The philosophy of “philosophical compatibility” emerges in the 21st century as a robust defence of human authorship against the reductionist and exclusionary critiques of “NeoConservatism”. While Neoconservatism often relies on the “Principle Basic Fallacy”—the artificial separation of the natural from the technical—to enforce rigid, exclusionary binaries like ‘foreign’ vs. ‘native’, philosophical compatibility advocates for Interpretive Holism. This essay defines compatibility as a “post-post-postmodernist” synthesis that integrates the Continental and Analytic traditions, reconciling free will with determinism and ethics with technics. Drawing on the insights of Isaiah Berlin, Jürgen Habermas, Bernard Williams, and Bernard Stiegler, it argues that practical social cohesion is achieved through communicative action and procedural kindness (panser) rather than strategic manipulation. The essay concludes by providing a methodological roadmap, including the POLICE model and spiral historiography, for the development of a comprehensively compatible thinker capable of navigating the “technical abyss” of the modern era.
