Abstract

This essay evaluates the critical claims made in Sophia L. Corwin’s 2026 paper, An Epistemological and Historiographical Evaluation of “The Humanistic Ascent”, specifically regarding the scholarship of Dr. Neville Buch. While Corwin’s critique assumes a posture of academic rigour by questioning authorial practice and terminological proliferation, this analysis demonstrates that her primary assertions are fundamentally illegitimate. Most critically, Corwin’s claim that Buch’s historical work on Queensland Protestantism is “unevidenced” is factually refuted by the existence of his 463-page awarded Ph.D. thesis, which provides the exhaustive empirical bedrock for his subsequent syntheses. Furthermore, her charges of “performative contradiction” regarding A.I. and “methodological solipsism” fail to account for Buch’s established frameworks of Digital Humanism and his deep integration of global philosophical traditions.
