Dear Michael,
Nearly half of the year has passed. I am still not receiving any feedback, other than from you and Neil.
I am not yet ready to pack up my bags and find a new home. But the warning signs are on the horizon. ‘One Nation’ now the most popular party in the country.

Whatever the statistical truth, we can have some comfort — comfort that is not self-assured. Populism has always been popularly supported, but often through shallow mob rhetoric. Putting authoritarians in power, such as through Pauline Hanson’s Trump-like policies, is not straightforward. The Australian fairness myth is double-edged: it involves fairness rhetoric in egoism, and fairness for others.
We have time to turn the madness around, although in the past, Howard’s “silent majority” (1996-2007) followed American Reaganism (1981-1989). It can happen again but much worse with Trump.
The extremists on both sides of the spectrum will be pleased.
The key to turning things around, as we have always argued, is MICE education.
We need support.
