Dear friends,

Here are the learning foundations for my Curriculum Packages.

Abstract

This essay explores the vices and virtues of history as a philosophical and social practice, characterizing the discipline not merely as a chronicle of dates but as a “site of conscience” and a laboratory for understanding human existence. Drawing on the socio-intellectual frameworks of Dr. Neville Buch, the analysis identifies the primary vice of history as Historical Forgetfulness—the “Epimethean fault” of acting without foresight by banishing the contingent origins of our prejudices from memory. Conversely, the primary virtue is identified as truth-telling, facilitated by Spiral Historiography, which seeks to “uncoil” repetitive patterns of error to achieve “Sufficient Comprehension”. Through a comparative “Tale of Two Cities,” the essay utilizes examples from Brisbane and London to illustrate how these dynamics manifest in the built environment, institutional governance, and the “Original Synthesis of Experience”.
