Abstract:
This essay explores the persistent human tendencies toward prejudice, racism, and ethnocentrism, framing these “human flaws” through the lens of Dr. Neville Buch’s Spiral Historiography and the Dynamic of Cognition (DoC) framework. By comparing contemporary Western narratives of exclusion to the ninth-century Saxon belittlement of Danish Christians and Pagans, the paper identifies a recurring pattern of “historical forgetfulness” and “specialized ignorance”. It argues that the urge to regress toward a “pre-state” of national identity is a fallacious response to the “Other,” driven by a “techné mindset” that reduces complex human beings to simplistic, exclusionary categories. To achieve an intelligent understanding amidst global cultural warfare, individuals must transition from a “Junior” state of unreflective habit to a “Senior” state of social accountability.
