Abstract
A model of intellect “measure” in the “fitness” of big ideas together, and the big ideas including their own measure of “doubt”. The measure is not strictly mathematical; it has no count. The measure is of vision and imagination. Fitness is the “movement” in compatibility. Fitness is always challenged in lifelong learning. Often it is not straightforward. According to each historical context, ideas might appear to fit together but don’t. And conversely, ideas might appear to be in conflict, but actually have a fit in different perspectives. The historical context itself is subject to the same examination. Doubt and Belief are never apart. All beliefs require certain doubts. And conversely, all doubts require certain beliefs. The “movement” is cognitive, the thinking, the changes in beliefs and doubts. Fitness is a best seen as a process of holism but never perfect in a person’s lifetime (long-life learning). Knowledge construction is a fallible process but the only process of the emergence of the ‘mind’ of the Mind-Brain. Ontologically, there is physically a brain, and a mind which emerges from the chemo-physical existence and has its own existence, but dependent on the physical brain. However, that “dependence” is not determined and is more (in most cases) “interdependent”. The logical “proof” is that the emergent mind is “agency”. The proof is not mathematical, but metaphysical. Metaphysical is the judgement of an agent, not a judgement of a natural determined thing. Although some scholars ineffective protest, the “natural” approach is born of the metaphysics and can’t escape that foundational belief. A model is a fallible devise but the best psychological and sociological guide to thinking.
[1] Dr. Neville Buch originally produced the Model of Intellect without Artificial Intelligence (A.I.): early morning human dream state. Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) has been fairly used in the production and design of the poster of the model. The tool used is Google NotebookLM (recently rebranded as Gemini Notebook). It is an AI-powered virtual research assistant and thinking partner designed to help a person interact deeply with their own documents. Unlike general chatbots, it is source-grounded, meaning it only generates answers based on the specific PDFs, documents, or links uploaded. The A.I. process in the production of this work has been limited to the attached (prompts) on each of the questions in turn. This ensures an accurate reading of each source. The author then rearranged and re-edited the answers the A.I. provided. The human author publishes this work. A.I. is never an author when used properly. This assistance is not qualitatively different from a human research assistant when that assistance is deemed to have no authorial status but is acknowledged.

The Model
The model of intellect measures the fitness of ideas on two axis. The bottom or horizonal axis is the measure of integrity, from left to right (no political interpretation), from the fragmentation of ideas to holism. The ascending or descending axis is the measure of the “effectives” in the holism. This should never be read as efficiency of the neo-“liberal” ideology (a false liberalism). The measure on this axis at the bottom is the most ineffective and, at the top, the most effective.
Only indirectly is the model of intellect a measure of knowledge. The method of understanding the knowledge measure is the POLICE model. Above, ontology was mentioned. The state of affairs as markers in the measuring of model are ontological, that is, “being”, and not described as static nouns, e.g. “being wise” and not “wisdom”. The reason is that the static nouns are a corruption of the cognitive process.
Being Wise: The highest marker. A person who is wise has the nuance in the person’s thinking, which means the capacity to understand fallibility and in Aristotelian flourishing, and lives the flourishing as life-long learning. Most integrity and most effective. At the top of life.
Playing Specialised Ignorance: The trapped middle marker. The person who foolishly only seeks to understand a few things well, and ignores everything else. As a consequence, judges everything else another person says with great suspicion and fear. The specialised ignorant person dismisses what the other person says, and is intellectually trapped. The most middle convention.
Playing the Fool (2): Two markers as there are two kinds of fools: one that is truly ignorant and sounds wise, at the lower end of the scale, and the fool who knows that the person is a fool but has yet to understand how to escape the foolishness, just beyond the middle. Just above being stupid.
Being Stupid (or being idiotic): The lowest marker. It measures a person who is captive by sheer habit. A person who only wants instructions. Most lost of integrity and most ineffective.
